June 2018 Listening Room will be featuring –

Friday, June 15, 2018.  8-10PM

Miles East –On the debut from Miles East, Ghosts of Hope, the quiet push and pull of human transformation is set against the volatile backdrop of the east coast seascape where he grew up and still resides. Like Dawes, Jason Isbell, or Ray LaMontagne, the ghosts of the great singer-songwriters are present—and even evoked—in a modern way that seems to stretch the very definition of the term. Songs roil with hopeful hellos, conflicted goodbyes, hard exits, and harder entrances. His characters move cautiously and thoughtfully, torn by the unsettling truth that actions can be both a positive and a negative force, even simultaneously.

And Downstate Darlings –

Hailing from the Empire State, Downstate Darlings draws inspiration from the golden era of modern rock, the band’s sound merges the edge of early-90’s DGC records with the melodic sensibilities of earlier New Wave-rs like Elvis Costello, Squeeze, and Joe Jackson. The project started as a humble re-launching of Abad’s solo work in 2017 after his multi-year hiatus from music. However, the band found immediate chemistry and began forging its own signature sound. Quickly gaining local notoriety for their high-energy live shows, Downstate Darlings have also been hard at work on their forthcoming debut EP, slated for release in mid-2018.

As well as: Monica Uhm, a NY based singer-songwriter whose style is self-dubbed “philoso-folk”.  She originally wrote songs as a way to learn guitar but soon found herself fronting various alt-indie rock bands that performed in underground NYC venues before returning to her roots as a singer-songwriter.  In recent years she’s been actively collaborating with other local musicians and artists, which eventually led to a studio project and the formation of Trio Of Awesuhm.  The result is the newly released debut album “cowboys & aliens’, which is now available on all music distribution platforms.  The album has its roots in Americana and heavily influenced by rock, pop, psychedelic and country.  She is currently actively touring the East Coast appearing solo and with her band to promote the new album.
