The BWC Coffeehouse/Listening Room returns to its third Friday evening of the month with a Powerhouse of Hudson Valley musicians!
A $5 admission fee covers basic snacks, tea and coffee, plus donations accepted for the artists’ performances.

C. J. Guenin
“A POINT OF VIEW”
C.J. Guerin is an artist who seeks to transfer the beauty of nature to canvas. She travels the Northeast in search of invigorating scenery to capture. C.J. is an elected member of the Silvermine Guild of Artists, a distinguished group of professional artists in New Canaan, CT. C.J. is also an educator. C.J. teaches workshops in landscape painting, as well as paper lithography,monotypes, solar etching and collograph.
The collection on display at the BWC represents her most recent trips through New England.
HER WORKS ARE FOR SALE AND THE PROFIT FROM THE SALES WILL BE DONATED TO ANIMAL RESCUE.

THE BWC PROFESSIONAL CONCERT SERIES
Midland Music Presents:

The opening concert of Midland Music 2018-19 season will be truly one of a kind experience.
For the first time in the history of Midland Music Concert Series, not two hands, not even four, but six hands and not on one piano, but on TWO magnificent Grands. Three illustrious Russian pianists, Vassily Primakov, Natalia Lavrova and Oxana Mikhailoff will open the season by honoring every donor and supporter that made the dream of owning the Yamaha CFIIIS Grand a reality!! Grand reason to have 2 Grands!
The second piano is a courtesy of Fleming’s Piano Store (Engelwood Cliffs, NJ)
All – Russian program including transcription for 2 pianos of Tchaikovsky Symphony # 6 and Rachmaninoff’s two Suites for 2 pianos. To make the concert even more meaningful, Oxana and Vassily will bring two of their star pupils, Kate Saluti and Sonia Holder. Each of them will perform a piece written for one piano four-hands sharing the stage with their teacher.
BWC BOOK CLUB

The Literature Program at the Bronxville Women’s Club monthly Book Club! Meetings will be the last Wednesday of each month from 1:30 – 3:30 in the Tea Room. ” All are welcome. Bring your friends!

October 2018 Book Selection: October meeting will be on Halloween! We have made a selection appropriate to the occasion – The Tale of Halcyon Crane by Wendy Webb. Do you believe in ghosts?
Wednesday, November 28th. This will be a joint activity held in conjunction with Club Day. The Club will be decorated for the holidays by then and our program will be an Early Holiday Tea. An old Victorian novel called The Birds’ Christmas Carol by Kate Douglas Wiggin. She is also the author of Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. So that all members and guests can be included in the discussion without having to read the book, we will reminisce about past holidays. So, come with your holiday memories.

We never stop learning and it can be fun! Spend Monday afternoons from 1:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. cementing friendships, enriching your brain, and enhancing your skill sets by joining your friends in bridge, canasta and Mah Jongg.
Looking for something to do on Monday afternoons?
All year round, every Monday (including the summer) in the Tea Room from 1:30 to 5:00 except holidays, come to the BWC and play bridge, canasta, mahjongg, etc. Members are free, guests donation of $5.00. This is a NO FRILLS educational activity. Bring your own snacks and drink. Organize and bring your team mates and set up your table and chairs. No prior sign up required. Just come and have fun! CHILDRENS WEEKLY ART CLASSES
Sundays, 4:00 P. M. to 5:30 P.M
Weekly Art Classes for children by Ying Chen. Sundays, 4 P. M. to 5:30 P.M The BWC offers art instruction in weekly classes by the talented and club member Ying Chen. The children’s art exhibit will take place in June. The funds collected by the purchase of the Art work will go toward the purchase of supplies for the program. This is a Philanthropic Out reach Program.

The BWC Philanthropy program starts in November, a very busy month and the start of the holiday season.
November – Thanksgiving Day – We will again be buying turkeys for the Martin Luther King Community Center. Our goal last year was 20 turkeys but let’s do better this year with a goal of 25 turkeys. Please be generous and help others enjoy a traditional Turkey dinner.
Friday, November 9, 10:AM – 11:30. Repacking Day at Feeding Westchester, the new name of the Food Bank. Join other not-for-profit organizations to repack food for distribution to local food banks and Soup Kitchens. Further details will appear in the October Newsletter.

PHILANTHROPY COMMUNITY EVENTS – 2017 – 2018
May-June 2018: Members donate needed goods to the New Rochelle Animal Shelter.
In coordination with other departments and sections of the club, funds are raised during programs and events to be donated to not-for-profit organizations.
Recipients of gifts of money and services in 2016- 2017 included:
Bronxville Historical Conservancy, Family Readiness Group of the 369th National Guard, Food Bank of Westchester, GiGi’s Playhouse, Martin Luther King Community Center in New Rochelle, Mt. Vernon Animal Shelter, Rosehill Home, Salvation Army, Westchester Federation of Women’s Clubs-for scholarship fund and Wreaths Across America.

Donations of $1,000 to this fund will be used solely for the preservation of the Historic Anna Lawrence Bisland 1928 House. The pledge may be made and paid over the course of the year. The Anna Lawrence Bisland 1928 House is Registered as a Historic site and the BWC is a 501 (C) (3) organization.

Donations to the Memorial Fund may be made in memory of friends or loved ones whether a member of the BWC or not. The funds are used to purchase flowers and planting for the grounds each year or as designated by donor. All donations are tax-deductible.
